The Last of Us 2 PC Performance and Upgrades
The Last of Us game on PlayStation 4 was thought to have excellent graphics. The PC version is expected to build on this with enhanced performance and visuals.
- Smoother gameplay – thanks to the high refresh rate and increased frames per second (reportedly 120FPS+), you can expect smooth and more responsive experience
- Immersive gaming – it supports ultra-wide monitor resolutions including 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios. In addition the true 4K resolution support ensures high-quality visuals

The Last of Us 2 Gameplay Review
Story Overview – Without Spoilers
The Last of Us Part 2 picks up years after the first game. Set in the United States, it follows Ellie, a young woman who has grown up in this post-apocalyptic world where most of humanity have been infected by a fungus and become aggressive zombies. Isolated groups of survivors must cope with both those infected and other survivors who fight for more resources and control. An introduction to the second game is new character Abby, a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF). Their stories cross over to create a narrative which draws you in, encompassing loss, revenge, grief and anger.
Survival Mechanics
The most important survival mechanics of the Last of Us game stealth, combat and exploration are key in this PC edition.
- Stealth movement and sound can help players avoid detection and confrontation – there’s the option to crouch to move silently, a listen mode to detect enemy positions, and throwable objects to create distractions. You can also do silent takedowns in combat to avoid detection by others
- Combat is intense and brutal, combining gunplay and melee combat for different approaches to beating enemies – there is an emphasis on strategy, as players must consider position, cover and resource. For example, guns should be used sparingly due to scarcity of ammunition. Other weapons for hand-to-hand combat like knives and bats are available, as is the option to craft explosives from items found in the environment. There is also a marked difference between combat against other humans and those infected
- Exploration is crucial to find resources and supplies – some are scattered through your environment; others can be looted. Players will encounter obstacles like walls and locked entrances plus puzzles that reward creative thinking. The protagonist gains new abilities as the game continues, too
AI enhancements
How enemies and allies behave in The Last of Us 2 for PC has been significantly enhanced thanks to AI.
- Enhanced behaviour – both enemies and allies demonstrate more awareness and more autonomy. Enemies react more realistically, detecting sounds and disturbances. They can also join forces with others. Allies exhibit more intelligent behaviour and can help with cover fire and distraction tactics
- Realistic behaviours – for both enemy and ally characters, motion-matching technology results in more natural-looking animations. Thanks to AI improvements, actions look more lifelike and realistic – as do behaviours – think reacting to environments and interacting with surroundings
- Dynamic Reactions – AI improvements to interactions result in a dynamic enemy response. They can adjust their tactics based on previous behaviours used by the player. The same goes for both ally and enemy combat, too
